Hello, I’m Michael Chum Dew, but I prefer to go by Chum. I’ve been a UI/UX designer for over 7 years. I work as a freelance designer living with my husband and daughter in Escondido, CA. I'm originally from Massachusetts. I’m 2nd-gen Cambodian American. I’m a fan of National Parks. My favorite color is green, and I enjoy crafting and up-cycling (Check out “Love” to view my side-projects).
I am confidently flawed with room to grow. I enjoy making mistakes on a daily basis. My thoughts are consistently inconsistent and tend to dwell on what others think. I speak up for others but let my designs do the talking. I’m a friend of failure, have great respect for process, and secretly admire change.
I enjoy working on small teams and thrive in an inclusive and creative environment.

- Comic sans reminds me of the comics I used to read. In middle school I didn't like reading. I was enrolled into ESL (English as a second language) class to help transition yet still had difficulty with reading (I didn’t know it at the time, but I had a learning disability). At the end of the school year, the janitor gave my brother and me comic books he found. During the summer I read those comics and that was the first time I enjoyed and grasped what I read.
- Comic-sans can help people with dyslexia. Font designs and stylings can be difficult to understand for dyslexics. The handwritten look of Comic-sans resembles their handwriting and makes it easier to read for dyslexics.
